Boise, ID – August 1, 2017 – Team MPI (Multisport Performance Institute) – Coaches looking to hone their craft as well as prospective new coaches who are beginning their careers can now benefit from mentoring by members of Team MPI’s top coaching staff.

Coaching need not and should not be an isolated endeavor. As athletes grow in skills, confidence, and enjoyment of sport, so should coaches. Established coaches can develop by learning from some of the most experienced and knowledgeable coaches in the sport of triathlon. A Team MPI coach mentor can advise on handling unique athlete situations; developing a more effective, efficient, and successful coaching practice; improving communication; expanding skills sets and branching into other areas of expertise and certification.

For those new to coaching or those pursuing new or upgraded certifications, letters of recommendation are often needed, and a Team MPI coach mentor can verify readiness.

Team MPI Mentor Coaches offer a wealth of expertise, experience, and enthusiasm. They include Head Coaches Mark Sortino, Chris Palmquist (both USAT Level III Coaches), and Coach John Murray (USAT Level II Coach), as well as Senior Coaches Amanda Leibovitz, Allen Stanfield, and Mark Turner. These coaches currently serve as individual mentor coaches and bring professionalism, experience, encouragement, and trustworthiness to their mentees. Collectively, they have contributed to USAT Magazine, USAT Multisport Zone, Triathlete Magazine, Beginner Triathlete, and They coach athletes individually as well as through USAT (paratriathlon and junior/youth), Team RWB, Team Semper Fi, CAF, and other organizations. Coach Mark Sortino was USAT’s 2016 Paratriathlete Coach of the Year and both Sortino and Palmquist have contributed to coaching education through clinics, presentations, and coaching manuals. The head and senior coaches have certifications through USA Cycling, ASCA, USMS, IRONMAN, and USAT (coaching, rules official). Additionally, Coach Amanda Leibovitz is a Certified Consultant of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Among Team MPI athletes are World Champions, Paralympians, All World Athletes, USAT All Americans, and IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship qualifiers.
