Revitalize Your Morning Routine

Posted by Coach Amanda Leibovitz

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day…because science. Not only does it taste delicious, but it also provides our bodies with much-needed sustenance after several hours of fasting (i.e. sleeping) and jump-starts our metabolism. In addition, many of us in the endurance community also tackle our first workout of the day in the early morning hours before work, school, or whatever other obligations fill up the day. As such, breakfast is ESSENTIAL, since it now is being used to both “fill the hole” we’ve created during sleep and fuel the body for the activities to come. With that in mind, why do so many of us skimp out on breakfast? In my experience, one of the top reasons is time. The reality is, most of us will choose any quantity extra sleep over sitting down to a balanced breakfast and also allowing it some to digest before jumping in the pool, on the bike, or out on the road.

But what if I told you that you can make a well-balanced breakfast the night before!? As someone with a notoriously busy schedule, I’m always keeping an eye out for “life hacks” that can add a few minutes to my day without sacrificing my health, well-being, and performance. All this being said, I have fallen in love with Overnight Oats. These yummy breakfasts are great on the go and are jam-packed with some great calories to start the day. The following links below provide some great ideas to try:

As always, happy training!
