Welcome Coach Christine Palmquist


Coach Chris Palmquist, MS, MBA, of Geneva, Illinois, is an elite USAT Level III coach, USAT Youth/Junior Coach, and USAC Level II Coach. She has 18 years of experience coaching athletes to success at the regional, national and world levels. She is a Team USA Paratriathlon Coach and has coached elite athletes at ITU World Paratriathlon Events and High Performance Camps at Olympic Training Centers.

Chris is also the Head Coach for the National Champion Multisport Madness Triathlon Team, working with youth ages 7-19 in the Chicago area. She coaches at training camps for USAT Juniors, the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and Dare2Tri.

As an athlete, she has numerous top finishes in many sports including triathlon, collegiate rowing, canoe/kayaking, cross country skiing, speed skating and road bike racing. Chris obtained her MS in education from Northwestern University then began her coaching career as a science and math teacher and track and cross country coach at the middle and high school levels. Following the birth of her children, she turned her attention fully to triathlon coaching and related work.

Her own racing resume includes twelve IRONMAN finishes and participation in the 2011 ITU Age Group World Championship. Her coaching philosophy is based on trust, communication, balance, achieving top potential and the joy of training and racing.

Coach Chris is the co-author of Endurance Sports for Kids: A Guide for Getting Your Kids Into Triathlon, Cycling, Swimming, and More (2013, with Ben Greenfield) and contributed to the Complete Triathlon Guide (2012, by USA Triathlon). Chris has written regularly for Chicago Amateur Athlete and Chicago Athlete magazines since 1994, numerous other magazines, and she contributed to USAT's coaching education manuals and Youth Championship guides.
