01 About Mark
I co-founded Team MPI on one idea: coach the athlete, not the sport. Coaching is a relationship first. I teach athletes about their own bodies, the training principles that fit them, and how to make sport work around real life. Beginners get a structured way to learn. Elite athletes get the attention to detail that finds the last few percent.
I’ve served on USA Paratriathlon’s National Coaching Team since its inception, coaching Team USA at the Rio, Tokyo and Paris Paralympic Games. I hold USA Triathlon Level III and USA Cycling Level II certifications and I’m a certified USAT Race Director.
I came to triathlon after graduating from the US Naval Academy and serving 20 years in the US Navy as a Naval Flight Officer. Triathlon became the perfect gateway to rediscover my love of competition and the outdoors. After some success as an amateur, including three finishes at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, I wanted to share that joy with other athletes.
