As I write this, I'm on a bus headed to Paris for the Paralympic Games. As a Team Coach for Team USA Paratriathlon, we just finished up over two weeks of training in central France in an incredible city called Vichy. Now we're headed to the Athlete Village with check-ins, swims, bikes, runs, familiarizations, briefings and ultimately the big event - the races.
There is so much to unpack when explaining this journey for these Elite athletes that it cannot be told in one, short writing. So, by some luck, I stumbled on this interview in Outside Online Magazine with the newly crowned winner and record-holder of the Leadville Trail 100 Run that just occurred.
In it, Coach David Roche talks about his thoughts on being an athlete and racing his first 100 miler and winning it. LOTS of pearls of wisdom in his answers! So, not to take the easy way out, I am giving the nod to David on how to shape one's mind to achieve great things.
I have highlighted some quotes that I will, in fact, use this weekend for the big events. Let's GO!
